Issue of Thomas Goodman Sandes (A 0304) and Isabella McGlashan:
Walter Goodman McEwen (0206) was born at Hamilton, Waikato, on 17 November 1879. He was an engineer, first at sea and then for many years at the Napier Hospital. On 2 November 1914 he married Elizabeth O’Neil, by whom he had four daughters. He died at Napier on 21 September 1954.
Innes Gordon (0207) was born at Hamilton, Waikato, on 4 September 1881, but died of convulsions and teething on 3 August 1882.
Spencer Fitton (0208) was born at Hamilton on 22 August 1883, and became a chemist in that town. On 2 September 1913, at Dunedin, he married Annie Esther Tansey, by whom he had two daughters. He died on 18 November 1918, from pneumonic influenza.
Stanley Irwin (0209) was born at Hamilton on 7 September 1885, but died of brain concussion from a slight fall on 29 July 1887.
Bessie Kathleen (0210) was born at Hamilton on 22 July 1888. She died unmarried about 1968.
Noel McGlashan (0211) was born at Hamilton on 4 January 1893, and on 15 March 1922, at Lawrence, married Ella Marian Lockhart, by whom he had a daughter. He was an accountant and was also a partner of his brother Tom as an orchardist in Roxburgh. He died at Gore on 22 October 1958.
Tom Trevor (0212) was born at Hamilton on 2 November 1894, and educated at Otago. He began work as a clerk in the Bank of New Zealand and joined up at 19 in the Army, fighting at Gallipoli and on the Somme, where he was wounded and evacuated to England. He spent just over 4 years in the Army, then ran an orchard business in Central Otago with Noel, but when it suffered severe frost damage he moved to Dunedin in 1945. On 24 August 1922 at Masterton he married Margaret Morrison Young, by whom he had two children. He died on 3 January 1947 due to the rigours of military service, and his widow on 8 June 1958.
