He was William Alton who married Maria Henrietta Sandes in 1860. He was
medical officer of the Tralee Union and died in Dublin on 19 February 1874.
His widow erected a fine stained glass window in his memory in St John the
Evangelist's Church in Tralee. He was buried in the Alton vault in the church
yard.
The inscription on the window reads:

IN
MEMORY
OF WILLIAM ALTON
M. D. F. R. C. S. I.
DIED FEB 19TH
1874
---
I KNOW
THAT MY REDEEMER
LIVETH
JOB 19:25
----
ERECTED BY HIS WIDOW
MARIA H ALTON

I can get you a picture if you wish.

Maria was herself buried in the churchyard in 1890, aged 58.

There is a photograph of their tomb by Joe Maher here:

They had two daughters baptised in the church, Elizabeth on 23 February 1863
and Wilhelmina Maria on 19 April 1868. Sadly Wilhelmina's burial is recorded
in the register on 16 May 1876.
