Charles Sandes (1844 - 1919)
Personal details
Possibly an illegitimate son according to his regimental record he was born in Dalrymple, Ayr but his father and his father's wife were never in Scotland.
He was an officer in the 10th Royal Hussars. (see reference note, National Archives). He fought in the Second Anglo-Afghan War.
At the time of his death he was a retired Lieutenant-Colonel in the Army Pay Department.

In the Census of Scotland 1901 he gave his birthplace as Ireland (?)
