He was ordained 6 September 1807 and became Bishop of Cashel and Ossory.

Capt. Robert Fitzgerald Sandes was a Captain in the 50th Regiment of Foot, later The Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment. He saw active service at Copenhagen, Walcheren, and in the Peninsula War.
